ABORTION EDUCATION What are some risks of the abortion procedure? Some possible physical repercussions of abortion may include: Heavy Bleeding, Infection, Incomplete Abortion, Allergic Reaction to Drugs, Tearing of the Cervix, Scarring of the Uterine Lining, Perforation of the Uterus, Damage to Internal Organs, Death, Breast Cancer, Effect on Future Pregnancy. Are there any emotional or physical impacts of abortion? Some women experience strong negative emotion after abortion. Sometimes this occurs within days and sometimes it happens after many years. This psychological response is known as Post Abortion Stress (PAS). Symptoms of PAS include: - Headaches, dizziness, pounding heart
- Moods of sadness, uncontrollable crying
- Difficulty being around pregnant women and babies
- Abuse of drugs and alcohol
- Suicidal thoughts or attempts
- Eating disorders
- Abusive relationships
- Pre-occupied with becoming pregnant again

ADOPTION Can I choose a family for my baby? Yes! There are additional options such as choosing a friend or someone who has been recommended to you. Your agency will discuss all of your options with you. Will I need an attorney or any money? No! The adoption agency will handle all the legal and financial details. Will I be able to see my child / will I have to see my child? The choice is yours. There are three types of adoptions. Open, semi-open, or confidential. After choosing an adoption plan, your caseworker will explain the current laws as they apply. THE ITHACA PREGNANCY CENTER What are the center hours? See our contact information. Will anyone know I have come to the center? No! We do not give out information of any kind, to family or friends. All information is extremely confidential. We even provide a back entrance to the center, you can call and let us know if you want to use it.
