Free pregnancy tests, onsite ultrasounds, abortion information, parenting education and material assistance are just some of the many services offered that empower women to choose life. The Cortland and Ithaca Pregnancy Centers are one of several thousand independently operated pregnancy centers affiliated with CareNet across North America.
A Clients First Visit
A client's first visit will last approximately one hour and will be used to determine how to meet the needs of each individual person. We pray for the Holy Spirit to lead our client sessions and to help us build a relationship that will encompass truth, love and hope in a non-judgemental atmosphere.
Pregnancy Tests: Step 1
When a client walks through the doors for a pregnancy test we are available to help them right away. They want answers and have come looking for them. Our tests are medical grade and the results are shown in just 3 minutes. We provide truthful information on all options: abortion, parenting and adoption. We do not recommend or refer clients for abortion but are committed to providing truthful and accurate information about procedures and risks associated with this option.
On-Site Ultrasound Referral: Step 2
When a client reads her pregnancy test as positive and meets certain criteria we can give her a referral for a limited ultrasound right on-site at both of our centers. This step is essential in determining many things and can help her to understand more about her pregnancy. Ultrasound technology can provide a 'window to the womb' and is performed for the purpose of:
- Confirming the pregnancy
- Detecting the fetal heartbeat
- Determining fetal age
- Determining approximate due date
- Determining location of pregnancy (uterine or ectopic)
- Week 3: The baby’s heart is beating.
- Week 5: Tiny arms and legs appear.
- Week 7: Brain activity is detected.
- Week 14: The baby is now 3 inches long and has finger and toe nails.
- Week 20: Baby girls have a uterus and ovaries containing eggs.
Mentoring Programs: Step 3
Clients are encouraged to participate in one of our programs that best suits her needs at the time of visit. We have several one-on-one options available and they can be scheduled around the clients availability. Please click the link to read more about each program:
Limited STD Testing: Step 4
If a client has had a negative pregnancy test result she is invited to talk with our Nurse to review STD information and to make an appointment for a limited STD test.
Post Abortion Healing
Our Post Abortion Healing program provides a safe and confidential place for those who suffer the grief and loss associated with an abortion experience.
Our Biblically based program promotes restoration and reconciliation in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner. Individuals or small groups meet with an empathetic facilitator who guides them through the 8-11 week course. HOPE and HEALING are possible!
